Vamos a la Playa

Well, we have had a few days of really nice weather, so we spent our time in Redes, a very small village where Raquel's family has a house. It is about 20 steps from the beach and has really nice views of the bay (Ria de Betanzos). The winter here feels like the summers back home, but I have been told that this is not normal for this time of year. I guess we are lucky. We spent our time visiting different beaches along the north coast of Spain, stopping at restaurants along the way to have a coffee or beer, or playing a bit of frisbee. I have been having a few cravings for the food over here, so we had to satisfy those...of couse:

Pulpo (octopus),
Tortilla (Spanish omelette),
Paella (Rice dish with many other things),
El Cafe,
Mariscos (seafood),
Queso de tetilla (cheese),
Empanada (Ask Matt),
Cervezas (Muchas),
Vino (Mucho),
Churros (no translation).

I know I have a lot of cravings, but most of these things we don't have in Canada. I will probably be a little heavier when I get back, or maybe not because the tapa's are very small here.

In the coming weeks we plan to visit more of Raquel's family in a city called Vigo. It is a bit closer to Portugal, but still on the coast. It's supposed to be a good place for surfing and windsurfing, so I hope the water is not too cold.

We made it! My second home and Raquel's first. Its good to be here after 20 hours in airports and planes, but we are still sleeping during Canadian days (8 hours later than Spanish days). The days feel very short and they are really busy from all the visiting with Raquel's family. My brain is already tired from thinking in Spanish most of the time. I don't realize it right now, but i'm sure I am learning a lot of the language. It has been raining a lot of the time since we arrived, but when it isn't raining, it feels great to be outside without freezing and feel the sun on your face. We miss everybody in Canada and hope all is well with everybody there.

Bueno, pues es oficial HACE UN FRIO DE CARALLO! Calgary es el segundo sitio en el mundo con temperaturas tan bajas... despues del polo sur...solo 5 grados de diferencia!

Snow...and more snow, and snow again....

Desde el martes lleva nevando sin parar, ahora tenemos hasta 25 cm de nieve! Tardo mas o menos una hora y media en llegar al trabajo todos los dias... y menos mal que Warren es un experto conductor en cualquier situacion meteorologica, e incluso con nuestro Blue ferrari podemos llegar a todas partes, aunque las carreteras sean una pista de hielo o un caos de nieve. Esta mañana despues de sacar la nieve del frente del garage a las 5 y media, a las 6 ya estabamos de camino... un par de coches delante de nosotros chocaron contra un ciervo, el pobre animal se rompio una pierna o dos y estaba sentado en medio de la carretera (hoy en vez de una hora y media tarde dos en llegar al trabajo).
Hoy tenemos una maxima temperatura de -22! En fin familia, que NO OS QUEJEIS DE LA LLUVIA!!!

Estuve tirando piedras en el Pacifico

Hacia tiempo que no escribia ya... pero es que la vida cotidiana en Canada no tiene mucho que contar... pero si nuestra ultima escapada a Vancouver.
Hemos ido la semana a British Columbia, salimos el martes después de trabajar, fuimos en coche con Steve, uno de nuestros mejores amigos, paramos a pasar la noche en Kelowna, que es una pequeña ciudad cerca de un gran lago a medio camino entre Calgary y el pacifico. El miércoles llegamos a Vancouver, Warren y yo nos quedamos en el Georgian Court dos noches (regalo de mi jefe por ser una buena trabajadora :)) En Vancouver nos encontramos con Tom, otro buen amigo, uno de los mas antiguos de Warren, Tom trabaja cuidando la hierba y las instalaciones del estadio de béisbol. En esta ciudad tan genial fuimos al acuario, donde vimos ballenas beluga, delfines, medusas, focas, nutrias, tortugas y montón de animales y pececillos mas. Fuimos al mercado en barco/taxi (tienen como unos buses que son barcos que cruzan de un lado al otro de la ria.
El viernes fuimos a Victoria, cogimos el Ferry, que tarda como una hora y cuarenta minutos, un ferry de estos en los que vas con el coche. Victoria es una ciudad preciosa, paseos a las orillas del pacifico, buen tiempo, todo verde, y muchos bares, tiendas, edificios y rincones originales... el sábado de vuelta a Vancouver comimos sushi (otra vez) que bueno esta el sushi de Honkuver (le llaman asi a la ciudad porque hay muchos orientales).
En fin, y ahi teneis las pruebas del viaje.
